11th Quilla "Paint La Caleta" Quick Painting Competition"

Painting, art, and community come together in La Caleta. Quilla, a restaurant, café, and terrace part of Sabor a Cádiz, is organizing a cultural event open to everyone, with the collaboration of its sponsors.

Competition rules

This initiative was born with two clear purposes: to promote painting as an artistic expression, opening a space where anyone can unleash their imagination with a paintbrush in hand; and to offer a cultural activity open to the participation of all, in the unique environment of La Caleta, so that art can be experienced in community.

Organization of the activity

The activity is organized by Sabor a Cádiz, through its establishment Quilla, restaurant, cafe and terrace, with the collaboration of the sponsors who make this meeting with art and culture possible.

The prizes will be awarded to the best works according to the jury's criteria.

The winning works will become the property of the sponsors.

The twelve finalist works (6 awarded plus the 6 most voted works), will be exhibited at the Quilla venue until November 15. 

For the possible sale of non-winning works, the painters will set the price with the organizers before withdrawing from the competition. Unsold works must be collected by the artists or their authorized representatives on November 15th.

Prize amounts will be subject to applicable withholdings and taxes. The organizers will apply any applicable tax withholdings as required by current regulations.

Jury

Artists, Fine Arts experts or members of the sponsoring entities.

Technique and format

• Free technique on paper, canvas or board. Maximum dimensions of 81×81 cm, and minimum of 50×50 cm, including dimensions between these values, (e.g.: 65×54, 81×70…).

• Participants will provide the necessary materials. Contestants must prove they are over 18 years of age.

• The canvases, boards or papers will be sealed in white, and may not incorporate any prior priming.

• Dry techniques such as pencil and charcoal are allowed.

• The works will be submitted unsigned, and will be signed after the jury's decision. 

IT IS MANDATORY TO HAND THEM OVER ON THE EASEL OR SUPPORT USED, FOR DISPLAY DURING THE JURY'S DELIBERATION.

Opening of the competition

From 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, the canvases or boards will be stamped and numbered by the organizers. Participants must create their artwork in the La Caleta area, informing the organizers of their approximate location, who will visit the contestants during the creation process.

Closing remarks and jury verdict

The collection of works will close at 5:00 PM, after which the jury will deliberate and award the prizes.

Participation in the competition implies acceptance of these rules.
